Who’s using birth control? Oh, right, almost every single woman in America.
[NB: Yup, I’m going to even do it Mother Jones, who I love, respect, adore, worship at the altar of (this chart is, of course, from some study or poll that started with the paramater of “women” so we can point fingers there anyhow). More than people who identify as “women” use birth control and are affected by this fight over access to it.]
my parents* were talking last night about really wanted this BC issue to go to congress, because when all those tea party and/or republican reps had to stand up and denounce birth control, they’d lose all the catholic women voters. i guess it’s not coming to that now, and i imagine mom and dad are a little disappointed!
*to be clear, my parents were raised catholic but are ex-catholic now. and i really believe there is a difference between being ex-catholic and being an atheist or just unreligious, because i wasn’t just raised without religion, i was raised to be extremely uncomfortable with and critical of it.
